An evening was spent at Government House which was unforgettable for everyone, with singing, speeches, canapes, wine and wonderful conversation. Highlights were the students' presentations, the Governor, Sir John Lorimer's welcome and the SVG choir. The presentations started with four speeches on their reflections on the Isle of Man, the history of SVG, and the effects of the pandemic and the La Soufriere volcanic eruption on their lives and education in SVG. The melodious singers in the group then blended their voices in harmony to share a part of their culture, bringing a sense of Caribbean warmth into the garden, to the delight of all the guests. The singers then sang 'Ellan Vannin', the Isle of Man’s unofficial national anthem and a song very close to the heart of every Islander. This emotional rendition left not a dry eye in the house. After the presentations students and guests had the honour of listening to a short speech by the Governor in which he presented the Vincentian students with medals as a token of his welcome and appreciation.
